The Aquarium Feeding Chart

The aquarium gave its volunteers a chart to record when the fish were fed.

At noon, Ella saw a neat tick beside the morning feeding. At two, the fish gathered near the glass and followed her hand.

“They look hungry,” she told the keeper.

He checked the chart. “It says they’ve eaten.”

“Who ticked it?”

They found a note in tiny handwriting at the bottom of the page.

It read: “Tick means I remembered to ask whether anyone fed them. — Ben.”

The keeper fed the fish. “Tomorrow,” he said, “we’re making a chart for the chart.”
