The Florist’s Standing Order

Every Friday, a florist delivered flowers to Mrs Lee with a card that said, “Still thinking of you.”

After six weeks, the florist asked her husband if he wanted a different message.

“I didn’t order any flowers,” he said.

The florist checked the account. Mrs Lee herself had set up the standing order.

“Should I cancel it?” he asked.

Mr Lee thought for a moment. “No. She seems to enjoy them.”

On Friday he added a card of his own: “I’ve started thinking of you too.”

Mrs Lee called the florist at once. “Who changed my reminder?” she asked. “The flowers were to remind him to water the plants.”
