The Quiet Train

A man sat in the quiet carriage and received a phone call.

“I can’t talk,” he whispered. “I’m in the quiet carriage.” He hung up.

The phone rang again. “I told you, I can’t talk here.”

It rang a third time. The woman across the aisle lowered her book and pointed to the sign above him.

“I know,” the man whispered to her. “That’s what I keep telling him.”

His phone rang again. He answered loudly, “Please stop calling. People are trying to read.”
